When I was all alone —
When I had withdrawn —
Leaving all that I hold dear
To go on ahead of me —
In my solitude—You Came—
Though I was not aware
Of Your Presence with me
And I wrestled —
Called to trust in You
Through my circumstances
I had carried with me
Until I reached a time
And place where I felt enabled
To lay out before me
All the challenges I had
Not been able to lay down —
So I wrestled with my personal struggles
I wrestled with my personal pain —
I wrestled too with the struggles of this world —
All through this time —
I found myself —
Wrestling with You —
 

Then in the moment
When You Touched me —
And I knew I would not be able —
To overcome my struggles
In my own strength
And so within this time and place
When I was all alone —
Wrestling without and within —
I knew that the only way forward
Was to keep wrestling —
Until I had received —
A Blessing from You —

For it is only in Your Grace
That I will be able to leave behind
All the burdens I have carried for so long
And step across the brook
With a new name —
Made strong by Your Promise
That I have struggled with God
That I have struggled with humanity
And that I have prevailed.
